Gameplay Tips

This level is one of the quickest and easiest in the game. Even on Legendary, the gameplay portion of it can be done in under fifteen minutes. The Flood can be taken down with headshots now, which makes things much easier. And there’s plenty of Shotgun ammo to help you out at close-range. Most of the level can be done by simple running through it. A lot of the Flood won’t chase after you – just don’t get surrounded.

“We’re Surrounded, Sargeant!”

  • When you’ve rounded the first corner, check the second open storage area on your right: there’s a Shotgun inside.
  • As you make the second turn, grab the grenades from the storage area on the corner.
  • Keep your distance from the Marines at the base of the ramp. The Flood will descend on them and a grenade and some BR shots will take all of them out pretty easily.
  • Combat forms will begin to drop around you, but keep strafing and watching your back, and use your Shotgun – the Flood don’t stand much of a chance against it at close range.
  • There’s more Shotgun and BR ammo in the lighted area behind the sandbags.

Warehouse, Part I

  • You can save the Marine if you shoot the Parasite forms quickly enough. He usually doesn’t last long inside the warehouse, though.
  • This area can be a little tough. I recommend staying back and headshotting as many as you can. When they get close, use your Shotgun. Just watch your ammo count.
  • Move forward slowly, so as to draw out the least amount of Flood at a time.
  • There’s a Regen that usually spawns in the center of this first room.
  • Most of the Flood in this next room start out far enough away for you to headshot them pretty easily.
  • There’s a Flamethrower to the right, at the top of the walkway. But by the time you get to it, most of the Flood are usually dead.
  • More Shotgun ammunition is available in a weapon crate as you move into the next room.
  • As you move into the fenced-ceiling area, be careful – a pile of Flood await around the first corner. But since you’ve just picked up more Shotgun ammo, they shouldn’t be a problem.

Shadow of Intent

  • Try to headshot as many Combat forms as you can as you move towards the Elites. The more Elites you can save, the better.
  • At the base of the remaining crane elevator, there are two Plasma Rifles and a Sword. Depending on how much Shotgon ammo you have, you may want to trade out for the Sword. I’d keep the BR, though.
  • This section can be difficult because the Flood have tendency to leap up and surround you pretty quickly. Use the Sword to keep the ones nearby off of you, and BR as many ahead as you can.

Warehouse, Part II

  • All of the Flood in this first room will be far enough away for you to BR. Just watch out for the ones with Spikers, as they can hit you from far away.
  • Be careful as you approach the gate – Flood will leap down from above.
  • There’s a Flamethrower in the top of the final room, but I’d advise against picking it up because of how slow it causes you to move.

The Wreckageย

  • In this encounter, you’ll first come across Flood Pure forms. These guys are really annoying. The first variation is a beast to bring down. He’ll shield his face if you attempt to headshot him, and it will usually take more than one Sword lunge to bring him down. The second variation isn’t too bad, since it just runs around. But it can transform into the worst type – the Ranged form. These guys will cling to walls and ceilings and shoot you with projectiles. They take forever to bring down with BRs, but they’re usually too high up to hit with close-range weapons. A Plasma or Spike grenade works well, as does a Brute Shot, but you don’t always have access to these. If a BR is all you’ve got, then just keep taking potshots at them until they fall down. Luckily, there are only a few in this area.
  • If you follow the concrete path on the right, you’ll come across some BR ammo that will be useful in dispatching a Ranged form up ahead. And your Elites will typically take care of the enemies down to the left.
  • The Ranged forms are so annoying that a lot of times I just make a run for it. You’ll typically have a Regen that you can deploy if your shields get low, and you can use your Sword/Shotgun to knock enemies away as you head for the top of the Wreckage.

  3. The Ranged Pure form actually has a weak spot – wait for it to “open” and fire at you, the cavity it was covering while closed (near its center of mass) is susceptible to BR fire.

  4. dual plasma rifles are extremely useful against pure forms for some reason. It can fire at the ranged forms, and taking down a tank form is easier than you think. I would recommend using them every now and again, just to mix things up.

  5. I usually dual wield a plasma rifle and a spiker. They’re pretty good against the flood and you can get them early in the level. Convienient, isn’t it? And they don’t stand a chance!:D
