Gameplay Tips
Ghosts are your biggest enemies on this level. On Legendary, their plasma fire is ridiculously powerful. It can down you, or whatever vehicle you’re in, in a matter of seconds. Your tactic with these guys will have to be hit and run. The interior portions of the level aren’t too difficult, since you’re provided with plenty of Battle Rifle ammunition, as well as lots of grenades. There are a few unique battles that you’ll find on this level, but they aren’t too difficult, either. Actually, besides one particular encounter, the majority of this level is difficult enough to be challenging, yet still simple enough to be quite fun. Just remember to fall back when you have to and to take your time bringing down your targets.
Interior
- Before moving inside, swap with one of your allies for a Battle Rifle.
- A well-placed grenade can take out all of the enemies huddled around the pedestal.
- Watch out for the Jackal that comes up on the left of the doorway.
- Also, look out for the Grunts that wander in on the right, from the next area.
- As you move into the next hallway, use the pillars along the right hand walkway for cover. Grenades and a BR should clear a lot of the enemies up ahead, but don’t be afraid to fall back to your previous area when your shields go down.
- I like to take out as many enemies as possible when I’m inside; the tight corridors mean death for your Marines and, more specifically, your Warthog. Taking out as many enemies as possible before opening the gates reduces the chance that you’ll lose your men and your ‘hog.
- Before you leave this area, grab a Carbine if your BR ammo is low.
Ghosts! And a Wraith or Two
- This area is rough. I typically drive the ‘hog in on the left, hugging the wall. Take out the running Brute and his Grunt cohorts. Then, head to the center island.
- When you get out of your ‘hog, don’t expect it to survive long without you. A Wraith on the far wall will be lobbing mortar blasts at you until you take it down.
- The enemies on the center platform have the higher ground, but you have to clear them out to get to some weapons that you’ll need moving forward. Use a BR or Carbine to take out as many as you can, and, moving closer, you can probably chunk some grenades into the bottom floor of the little building, which will clear out a lot of guys.
- There’s a Missile Pod Launcher here. It typically takes two shots to bring down a Ghost; don’t waste your shots on the Wraiths. It takes too many missiles to bring one down, and they’re not your biggest problem anyway.
- If you can’t take out all of the Ghosts, use the sniper at the top of the center platform to snipe them out of their vehicles. You may have to wait for a good angle – but keep moving, so that the Wraith doesn’t get you. I typically stay inside the building, or on the backside of it. From directly in front of the Ghosts, you can knock off the Grunts’ Methane tanks, and then, once you get an angle, it’s just a single BR shot to bring them down.
- Snipe the gunners out of the Wraiths.
- Grab a surviving Ghost and take down the Anti-Air Wraith. I’ve never had it attack me. Remember the weak spots on all Wraiths’ backs – that little spinning porthole.
- Bringing down the standard Wraith is difficult, since it has the higher ground, and there are enemies inside the building that will attack you if you expose yourself to them – even while boarding the Wraith. I usually rush it and board from whichever angle puts it in between myself and the building.
Interior, Act II
- If you kept the Wraith alive, lob some mortar blasts into the building. Even if you don’t kill anyone, it still feels satisfying.
- A few grenades will clear out the enemies on the second floor, on the left. All of the except the Chieftain, typically. There’s an angle you can sometimes find on the staircase that will allow you to BR him without him being able to shoot back at you. His Plasma Cannon will either hit the wall or the floor in front of you. It’s like he’s firing at your chest rather than your head.
- The next area, with the Drones, is easy. Grab a Rocket Launcher, if you want, and refill your Battle Rifle ammo. Open the gate and take cover near it. As soon as it is fully opened, while the Drones are buzzing around, just make a run for it. As soon as the Cortana flash starts, the Drones will leave.
Rocket Marines
- This one’s a blast. Literally. Hopping on a Mongoose and driving a Rocket Marine around may not be your safest bet here, but I wouldn’t do it any other way.
- The key down here is to stay behind your enemies. The Mongoose is a very quick and maneuverable vehicle, and there are plenty of hills, pipes and rocks for you take cover behind when you’re getting hit. Like I said, stay behind your enemies (especially the Wraiths, since two rockets on their weak spot takes them down) and let your Marines do the rest. Keep your distance, though; your troops can be a bit trigger happy, and they’ll often end up sacrificing you both to take out an enemy vehicle.
- Anticipate the Ghost drops. Watch the sky for Phantoms and have your Marine in a position to take them out when they get dropped off. Be careful, though – the Phantoms will fire at you, and so will the Ghosts, even while they’re still in the air.
- There are lots of ways to take down the Scarab, all of which are fun. A Ghost at the base, concentrating on one leg is probably the easiest. But taking the elevator on the left (if you’re looking toward the Dreadnought) and using the Sniper to pick off enemies, and then boarding an almost-emptied Scarab is also fun.
- Save some rockets. Drop your empty launcher and pick up another weapon, so you can trade a Marine for his rockets.
Interior, Act III
- There are lots of Brutes coming up, but you should have plenty of grenades, and BR ammo is plentiful.
- The Brutes will often drop Bubble Shields here, but they act strange when they’re inside. They won’t fire, and they hesitate to melee through the Bubble. When a Brute has deployed a Bubble, you can oftentimes walk right up and melee him to death. I’ve done it to multiple Brutes inside one Bubble. I find that meleeing, backing out of the Bubble, and then repeating that process, seems to work good.
- Use your rockets on the Hunters. Two well-placed rockets can take them both out at once.
- BR the Brutes outside; if you run out of ammo on the Chieftain, you may have to take the fight up close. Just watch out for his Hammer lunge, and get the heck out of dodge if he deploys his invincibility.
- Mopping up the remaining enemies isn’t usually too difficult.
King of the Hill
- There’s a Sniper Rifle on the left, here, which you can use to pick off some enemies. But watch out – the Chieftain at the top has a Fuel Rod Cannon and it will track you. That is to say, its plasma bombs will follow you, and they can actually turn quicker than you might think they could.
- Nothing too special here: once the Chieftain is down, taking out the remaining guys is pretty routine. Use the Fuel Rod Cannon if there are any shots left. The rocks give you cover when you need it, so this area isn’t too difficult. Just watch out for the Banshees. Sometimes, they get interested.
- You know, if you have enough BR ammo, you can take out the anti-air gun from where the sniper spawns, and the cutscene will start.
Is there any chance at some point these addendum’s will be able to be downloaded from somewhere other than using the XBox file share?
I am really interested in seeing them but my 360 is not online.

It’s possible, but not likely at the moment. The length of the videos would put a strain on our bandwidth, even with just a few downloading.

Could YouTube be possible then? Might also make good advertising too.

I have a method for taking down the wraith tank in the “Ghost’s and a wraith or to” section that works really well.
When leaving the first interior section take a ghost and boost down the brute. Head to the raised walkway that is opposite the cliff edge and run to the platform that the wraith sits on. Hide in the crate using the BR until the phantom comes to drop the wraith off, whereby promptly board it and destroy/capture it. Head back to the walkway and deal with the remaining enemies from there.
I believe that the door behind the wraith tank does not open until the anti-air wraith is destroyed.

When the Scarab comes, if you are fast enough, you can simply shoot the back part off the scarab and kill the power core before it gets a chance to shoot back.

there’s actually a slightly easier way to beat the hunters. if you save the missile pod, and at least 2 missiles you can take out the hunters better. the missile will, even on legendary, kill the hunters in one hit, unless you have the mythic skull on. doesn’t matter where it hits them, it ALWAYS proved a one-hit-kill for me. and the missiles also seem slightly more accurate against the hunters.

in the King of the hill bit, theres actually a path to get behind the chieftain. At the sniper spawn, walk forward then turn right. Hug the cliff and you’ll come out kinda diagonal to the brute rock. watch out though coz theres a heap of grunts with plasma pistols.
